It's okay to be Takei
This clip was shown on The Rachel Maddow Show last night. I couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes.

The list of social injustices is so long... We've got a sh*tload of laws to fix.

Be very afraid.

The Mayor of San Diego forgot to drink his Kool-Aid, and his moral conscience briefly came out of its Republican-controlled prison:
Truly amazing how difficult it was for him to announce this, speaking just like he was apologizing for admitting to having done something bad. I know this announcement happened over one year ago, but in two days the knuckle-dragging religious fanatics who control the Republicans in California will try to kill gay marriage with Proposition 8. History will look upon our era as quite primitive when documenting the incessant attempts by educated-but-intolerant humans to prevent others of their species from having equal rights.

In just three days here in California, something terrible is going to happen. Homosexual people will be marrying each other. Yes, I know! It's probably the end of civilization as we know it.
Now that gays and lesbians will be married, my marriage is seriously threatened. When I see a gay couple and I somehow find out that they possess a marriage license, I will no longer want to be married to my wife. I'm sure because that's what Republicans tell me, and they're the self-proclaimed experts on family values.
My wife and I have only three more days to enjoy our marriage, and then all hell breaks loose. Starting next week, when my wife and I are alone together, just knowing that there are lesbians somewhere in our city with a marriage license in their dresser drawer (or, more likey, framed and hanging in the family room) is going to make us just want to no longer be married. I guess I should start looking for a divorce lawyer this weekend. It's truly a terrible situation, because I love my wife and it's not fair that we can no longer enjoy our marriage since there are other people who are now allowed to enjoy marriage too.
I suppose the only solution is to go find another man to marry.
Damn hippie tree-hugging commie liberals, ruining my life just so others can have rights too.

William Blum, author of Empire Report, raises a good point about homosexuality:
That kind of backward thinking by Richardson sealed the turn-around in my initial support of his candidacy earlier this year.
"Do you think homosexuality is a choice, or is it biological?" was the question posed to presidential candidate Bill Richardson by singer Melissa Etheridge. "It's a choice," replied the New Mexico governor at the August 9 forum for Democratic candidates. Etheridge then said to Richardson, "Maybe you didn't understand the question," and she rephrased it. Richardson again said he thought it was a choice. The next time you hear someone say that homosexuality is a choice, ask them how old they were when they chose to be heterosexual. When they admit that they never made such a conscious choice, thus implying that people don't choose to be heterosexual, the next question to the person should be: "So only homosexuals choose to be homosexual? But what comes first, being homosexual so you can make the choice, or making the choice and thus becoming homosexual?"

ROFLMAO!
The Left Coaster's long time funny commentator, TIKI AL, on Senator Larry Craig's latest predicament:
OK, so you're on the throne in the airport and crazed fire ants start coming out of the baseboard in droves. Critter-stomping for your life you accidently tap out some convoluted morse-code signal for gay sex. To make matters worse, an under-cover vice squad officer just happens to be in the next stall. Now be honest, who hasn't had this happen to them?

"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States." Tim Hardaway
"Gay marriage—who the hell cares? If you're gay you're gay—more power to you. What you want is to be treated fairly by the law and any American who doesn't think that should be the case is, frankly, un-American." Paul Hackett
Only in America. And so, which one of these outspoken individuals is gay? Why, Tim "Closet" Hardaway, of course. Homosexuals in a state of denial are always the most outspoken against a sexual orientation that they subconsciously know they have. It's classic Freud 101A.
Here's some more from homophobe Closet Tim:
"First of all, I wouldn't want him on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would really distance myself from him because, uh, I don't think that is right. I don't think he should be in the locker room while we are in the locker room. But stuff like that is going on and there's a lot of other people I hear that are like that and still in the closet and don't want to come out of the closet, but you know I just leave that alone."
I always thought Tim' wardrobe was a bit more snappy than usual. And I bet he's got some faaaabulous drapes in his living room.
As sad as it is, you have to admit that closet gays really are entertaining subjects.
