On Saturday, April 14, Americans all across the country will have a message for Congress to hear: “It’s time to Step It Up on climate action!” At more than 1,000 gatherings around the United States people from all walks of life who are concerned about global warming will participate in Step It Up 2007. Some of these events will be held in iconic places, such as the levees in New Orleans and the top of the melting glaciers on Mt. Rainier. People will gather in communities, large and small—at churches, in coastal towns, and on statehouse steps. These events will serve as a call to Congress to cut carbon emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050—reductions scientists say are needed in order to avoid the worst effects of global warming. Click here, to find local Step It Up actions or to organize an event in your community. Join us on April 14, and speak up for climate action! Sincerely, Kate Abend |
