These horrible messes America is in today are not due to Bush. Bush did not walk into Washington D.C. and take over the nation's capital. Without help from anyone, he would be likely pumping gas at the local Chevron station.
He needed a lot of help from a lot of people to get to the top of the heap that is called the U.S. President. He had thousands of advisors, helpers, donors and personal supporters who got him successfully over the first hurdle and into the Texas governor's mansion. He had the help of tens of millions of U.S. voters, plus hundreds of crooked politicos, including many in the media, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the Congress, to get him into the presidency. And he had those same people wash, rinse and repeat to get him to stay another term.
He did not march into Iraq and create this unspeakable hellhole. He needed our corrupt CIA, congress, and senate, our unfair and unbalanced media, and our amoral top military brass to get the job done.
However, Bush did choose to be the figurehead for all this, and even figureheads have personal responsibility and accountability, just like any other job. He should be impeached, along with his cohorts, for failing to follow the laws of our country.
But, we all must be held accountable for allowing it to happen. We all must be punished for our poor judgement and decisions in choosing who should represent us in our government. Unfortunately, the punishment is not getting doled out equally among us. Some (for example, U.S. soldiers and New Orleans residents) are getting punished with death. Some, unfair imprisonment. Some, just having to watch the bad images on TV. And some, reaping millions or billions in war profits. The "punishment" ranges from death to incredible wealth.
So when foreigners say the U.S. is a bad country, don't correct them by saying it's all Bush's fault and real Americans are good, honest, hard-working people. That's just a crock of b.s.
We may be hard-working, but we sure as hell aren't working hard to fix what we've wronged, have we!
