I had also referred to the methane issue about five years ago (http://mstabile.blogspot.com/search?q=methane). Can't say I'm surprised at the lack of concern from our uneducated masses.

And the reason a former wastewater treatment layman like me knows about methane release is because it's the same process we used in anaerobic digestion.
It is so simple a full fledged scientist doesn't have to know that the warming of the permafrost and the organic matter turning anaerobic will have a catastrophic effect on the environment.
It just needs to be said that climate change deniers and the crazy politicians are fucking fools!
