I hate to say it, but it's good that McCain threw a monkey wrench into the bailout negotiations yesterday.

His intentions are different, of course (he wants to pull off campaign stunt after campaign stunt, hoping that one will actually work and reverse his sliding popularity with voters), from those looking for a workable solution to the financial crisis.

However, any delaying of a final bailout package will give more time to those trying to come up with real solutions rather than gifting nearly a trillion taxpayers' dollars to those crooks on Wall Street who looked the other way as hundreds of billions of Main Street's savings, for which they were the paid caretakers, vanished into thin air. In fact, one of the solutions is NO bailout, and even that one makes more sense than the b.s. one that Paulson presented to Congress last week, or any of the alternatives seen since then.

The damage done to our country, by passing any of the current proposals in Congress will be far greater than any delay (of days, weeks or months) due to taking time to find a good solution, meaning good for Main Street
.
