Bits and Pieces for the Week of August 10 - 16

Sen. John McCain's son served until last month on the board audit committee of a Nevada bank that is struggling to survive amid mounting losses and regulatory scrutiny. Andrew K. McCain, 46, was on the board of Silver State Bancorp for five months before he resigned on July 25 for unspecified "personal reasons..." Ahhh! Sweet memories of The Keating Five and the Savings and Loan Scandal that cost taxpayers billions. (7 of 6)

Rep. Bill Sali (R-ID) has the solution to our energy needs. Finally, a rational Republican who is well-versed in energy technology. Bravo! (Mike)

Seems like the troops like Obama 6 to 1 over McLame. (7 of 6)

Governor Groperzenegger's letter to state employees, explaining how he's decided to give them the shaft (Mike)

Asphalt: the next great energy source? (Mike)

"Automakers are offering discounts of $10,000 or more on some S.U.V.’s just to get rid of them" (Mike)

The headline reads: Justice Staffers Won't Be Prosecuted For Illegal Hiring Practices. Attorney General Michael Mukasey said Tuesday... "not every wrong, or even every violation of the law, is a crime. In this instance, the two joint reports found only violations of the civil service laws." I'll use that as my defense if I ever get arrested... should work, eh? (7 of 6)

Republican legislators in California look like they want to shut down the state government. The Dems are acting spineless, as usual. (Mike)

I love broccoli... I fart a lot when I eat it! However, there are better things it does for the body.... "it may undo diabetes damage". (7 of 6) h/t Mike
