Our Sick Nation

Larry Johnson at No Quarter, examines what is happening in Iraq compared to today's shooting at Virginia Tech. Then from commentator Nobody at The Left Coaster on the same issue:

We are shocked by the killing of 32 in Virginia. Imagine living in Iraq.

Every day at least 30 are killed on a light killing day just in Baghdad. The US has a population of 301,625,505 today. Iraq has a population according to Wikipedia of about 26,783,383 in 2006. Thus, the US is about 11.2 times larger than Iraq. If we were to proportionalize the killing in Baghdad alone, it would equate to (30 x 11.2) 336 per day every day, for years.

Imagine if the gunman had killed 336 instead of 32 and that happened every day.

Yet we keep on ignoring the moral depravation of our politization of Iraq.

Our nation is much more depraved than the gunman at Virginia Tech, yet we piously pretend we are not a criminal nation.

Sick!

How right you are Nobody! Out of Iraq now!
