Veterans will face consecutive years of budget cuts, just so bu$h can attempt to balance his proposed budget by 2012:
Who will support this crap? I'm sure your local bu$h boot licker will. Remember they are the party of: "We have ours already, fuck you!"
The Bush administration plans to cut funding for veterans' health care two years from now -- even as badly wounded troops returning from Iraq could overwhelm the system.
Bush is using the cuts, critics say, to help fulfill his pledge to balance the budget by 2012.
After an increase sought for next year, the Bush budget would turn current trends on their head. Even though the cost of providing medical care to veterans has been growing rapidly -- by more than 10 percent in many years -- White House budget documents assume consecutive cutbacks in 2009 and 2010 and a freeze thereafter.

For those who have asked, my surgery was cancelled, this time with notice. The nurse did state that the VA hospital has had an influx of cancer surgeries. I assume from serious cases of Depleted Uranium (DU) no doubt. Another under-reported malady of the War in Iraq.
And thanks to Ripley, at The Zen Cabin for sending along this very informative article on the status of the VA system around the country.
As Ripley says:
It’s a long article, with a lot of numbers and personal stories about our veterans, PTSD and the VA’s ability to help them. And the story isn’t hopeful.
