It's apparent that the US military is having trouble with retaining it's Army officers; especially when, ahem, dead soldiers are asked to re-enlist!
The letters were sent a few days after Christmas to more than 5,100 Army
officers who had recently left the service. Included were letters to about 75
officers killed in action and about 200 wounded in action. The 75 represent more
than one-third of all Army officers who have died in Iraq since the war
Needless to say, if I was one of the officer's parents or spouses I would have wanted to know what kind of cruel joke the Military was playing on me. Chalk up another insult to Veterans and their families from our government. Something like losing your information on a stolen computer, only this time it can't keep track of their own dead!
Maybe if more was accomplished in Iraq and people weren't asked to go on 3-4 tours of duty the officers would be willing to comply. Well, not the dead ones.
WTF is wrong with the USA?
