Very few things can distract me from the horrors of the imperial thieves and killers who are steering our theocracy, once known as a republic, into the clutches of armageddon. However, last night, while dutifully suffering through what looked like another game in which the Lakers would once again snatch defeat from the grip of victory, I witnessed what one can only described as a truly rare, uplifting human story. What unfolded before me in a period of about two hours was a remarkable event that transends any individual athletic performance that I can remember. Kobe Bryant's achievment will probably never be repeated in our lifetimes...
Of course, there's always the next game he'll be playing.
