Liberal Oasis shrewdly dissects some comments Rumsfeld made on TV this past weekend and shows how the most likely scenario regarding U.S. intervention in Iran is going to be a limited U.S. invasion/strike followed by the local Iranian population overthrowing the consequently destabilized government. Rumsfeld:

...And you look at Romania, when that fell, it was fast. We can’t predict these things...I just don’t know. I do know that there are obviously, young people and women in that country who know what’s going on in the rest of the world. They know how other people live…They have access to the outside world. They can move in and out for vacations. People from our country go in there and talk to them. It’s not as though they’re in North Korea, and don’t have a good sense of what’s taking place in the rest of the world." |
