Ted D. at ddjangowire has just posted his first installment in a series of essays on the development of a Progressive philosophy. Good read for all who feel so bad, yet frustratingly helpless, about events during the past three years. Snippet:
For this nation’s soul will not shine in anger, conquest, provocation, and lies. This nation’s soul cannot sustain itself by extinguishing the fires burning in others’ souls.
It may, however, be found in introspection; in construction before destruction, in attention to the needs of, rather than the threat from other peoples and nations; in realizing and acting as if we are the earth’s resource, rather than the earth being ours. This nation’s soul will be ignited only in the recognition that we have much power and will use it for growth of the whole human spirit. |
