Steve Gilliard on Arnold S.:
What most people don't get is that Arnie is about himself. He want's the respect of office, but not the burden. It's a tremendous rush to run for office and win. Stewart was so accomplished at his job, they had to pull him from flight duty before he got killed. Which was common among the best commanders. They were so concerned that they were the only men to do the job right, that they would take so many risks and get killed.
Arnold Schwarenegger is supremely unfit to govern anything, much less California. People think his movie image of leadership is leadership. Which it isn't. If you acted the way he does in movies, real men with guns would kill you. |
From Today's Counterspin:
People do not like having their cherished myths explode in their face like a prank cigar. The voters would have, eventually, come to the realization that Arnold is a creepy, sexually harassing scumbag on their own. But it would have come too late to prevent him from becoming Governor, and dragging the whole state through the muck in the process. I still thkink enough people have doubts that when it comes time to actually pull that voting lever, they will vote "no" on the recall. |
