CONSTITUTION DAY, SETPEMBER 17, 2003
A NATIONAL FIRST, BE A PART OF IT
The National, 7th annual celebration of Constitution Day will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at 2 P.M. Philadelphia time. The half hour program will begin with President George W Bush leading all the 120,000 schools in the nation in the simultaneous recitation of the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution broadcast by Fox News.
Immediately following the recitation of the Preamble there will be a roll call of the 50 United States beginning with Delaware, the first state to ratify the Constitution, ending with Hawaii the last to be admitted to the Union. The roll call takes place from Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park California where there is a famous replica of Independence Hall and there is a huge celebration. When the roll call of states begins the Governor or other state official replies from each state capitol of a teleconference call. We have requested that C-Span broadcast the roll call of states but it has not been confirmed to date.
The teleconference call moves to the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania who will lead the ringing of “Bells Across America,” to honor the First Amendment, Freedom of Speech and Religion. Your assistance to protect and perpetuate our precious Constitution is solicited.
